Pits and fissures are naturally occurring groves on teeth which sometimes act like harbouring grounds for bacteria. Food especially those that are sticky are not easily cleanable from these areas.
Pit and Fissure Sealants work on the idea “Prevention is better than Cure”. The requirement of pit and fissure sealants are determined on the check-up appointment and depends on the depth of the grooves and fissures. Fissure Sealants are done primarily on molars and premolars.
Do I need to get my tooth numb for it?
Pit and Fissure Sealants doesn’t even need a dental drill! The dentist will clean the tooth thoroughly and let the sealant flow through the grooves and before you know it, it’s all done. It’s as easy as getting your nails painted!
Can I eat straight away?
Yes! You can enjoy your favourite meals straight away! There are no restrictions on your daily activity after you have had pit and fissure sealants done.
Do they last forever?
Pit and fissure sealants are known to last generally for 3 to 5 years! Ideally, they are evaluated by the dentist at every recall visit. If they fall out, they are easily redone. So don’t miss your six monthly visits to your dentist.
