Dental Check-Up And Clean At Niddrie Dental Clinic

Smile With Confidence With Regular Check-Ups at Niddrie Dental Clinic.

Dental check-ups and cleaning are the maintenance that your teeth need. It’s important to assess and identify your oral health so you can keep on top of it. Oral health is about more than just aesthetics; it can gradually deteriorate the structure and function of your teeth. Check-ups are the best way to stay ahead of dental health, and they’re your chance to address any questions or concerns you may have.

At Niddrie Dental Clinic, we provide you with thorough dental check-ups that are designed to examine your teeth, gums and mouth.

For a radiant smile and excellent oral health, book a consultation with our team today.

What To Expect At Your Dental Check-Up?

Your dental check-up is quick, and we’ll make sure you feel comfortable the entire time. But it’s normal to have questions about what will happen. So, here’s what to expect:

  1. Welcome Discussion: When you arrive, your dentist will greet you and discuss any concerns or pains you may be experiencing.
  2. Examination: After your discussion, the dentist will begin examining your mouth. They will check your teeth and gums, including your tongue and cheeks, for any signs of cavities, cracks, gum disease or any abnormalities.
  3. Cleaning: If necessary, a dentist will typically proceed with a general cleaning of any plaque or stains that may have built up.
  4. X-ray and Fluoride: For first visits or 6-monthly monitoring, your dentist may take X-rays and intraoral photos. They will then offer you a fluoride rinse once the scaling and cleaning are completed.
  5. Next Steps: Your dentist will discuss any changes or areas of concern they may have noticed, as well as advise you of some preventative next steps that you can implement to take care of your teeth at home.

Why Are Dental Check-Ups Important?

Dental check-ups help you stay updated with your oral health by allowing for early detection of any problem areas. As dental check-ups look for cavities, gum disease and oral cancer, regular check-ups can make a difference in preventing and catching symptoms early. Your regular clean-up can help preserve your pearly white smile by lowering your risk of tooth decay. By keeping in contact with your dentist through your check-ups, you’ll benefit from professional advice on how to improve your oral health and smile with confidence. So, your risk of dental emergencies will be significantly lower, saving you from unprecedented out-of-pocket costs.

FAQ’s

How long will my appointment take?

We recommend that you allow 45 minutes up to one hour for a comprehensive check-up, especially if it’s your first with Niddrie Dental.

How often should I have check-ups?

It is recommended that you have dental check-ups every 6 months to effectively monitor any changes and developments to your oral health.

Will it hurt?

It’s normal to be nervous about your dental check-up, but our dentists and hygienists are well known to be gentle and thorough! Even our youngest patient loves coming here! They will prompt you to advise them if you do feel any sensitivity/discomfort during the appointment, so they can be sure they aren’t hurting you in any way.

Will I need an X-ray at every visit?

No. X-rays are only taken when necessary. Check-up X-rays (bitewings – one on each side) are usually taken on your first visit to set a base record, and we repeat these X-rays every 2 years unless we notice a major change to your mouth and teeth. Your dentist will let you know if they need to take a new one.
