Dentures
Dentures are the quickest and most cost-effective way to replace your missing teeth. Dentures can be made to replace all or multiple missing teeth as well as a single missing tooth. Dentures are removable prosthesis which replaces teeth for aesthetics as well as for function.

Dentures are generally made of two types of materials:

Dentures

Acrylic – This material is mainly used to fabricate full dentures and sometimes partial dentures as well. Acrylic dentures are also used commonly as immediate dentures which are placed right after removal of teeth. They are not considered as an ideal as well as a long term solution to replacing multiple teeth.

Metal – Metal Dentures are primarily made of cobalt and chromium and are often called as “Chrome Partial Dentures”. These dentures are superior to acrylic dentures regarding strength, durability and feel more comfortable as they can be made in thin sections. Their many advantages make them slightly dearer over acrylic dentures.

Dentures

Flexible Dentures – Dentures are also made of a thermoplastic material which is more flexible and comfortable however their use is best constrained to replacing one or two teeth. Flexible dentures are however a short-term replacement for missing teeth.

At Niddrie Dental Clinic we use a dental laboratory that makes our dentures locally here in Melbourne itself.

What to expect after I get my new set of teeth?

Dentures are compared to wearing a new pair of shoe. It may seem uncomfortable at first, but they take some time and patience to getting used to them. You may need to see your dentist a couple of times or maybe more to get your dentures adjusted. Dentures, also require you to take care of them like your natural teeth.
