Dental Fillings Melbourne
When do we need a filling?
When our tooth gets damaged due to decay caused by bacteria or fracture due to trauma a filling is required. The filling helps the tooth to get back to its normal form and function. By sealing areas where bacteria can enter, a filling also helps prevent further decay.
How does the damage occur?
The many foods that we eat daily expose our teeth to materials and substances that have a negative impact on their overall health with time. One way to cut down on the damage caused is by making sure that you follow a regular brushing schedule. Brushing your teeth at least two times a day, for a minimum of two minutes is highly recommended.
What to expect at and after the filling appointment?
On the day, the dentist will perform a few tests to try and determine the extent of damage. The dentist will then remove all decay and place a filling. He may or may not numb you depending on the extent of the damage and your preference. After your filling appointment, you should expect some sensitivity which should go away in a day or two. Occasionaly you may require a root canal treatment to save your tooth.
